In 2015, up to 3.000 Tunisians left their homes and joined Daesh in Syria/Iraq. Since 2013, RATTA (Rescue Association of Tunisians Trapped Abroad) has been working with 250 families that had their sons recruited by the extremist group. RATTA promoted dialogue among these families so they could cope with that trauma and try to find a way to convice their sons to turn back home. Now, RATTA calls the society attention to the returnees. According to the Association, hundreds of foreign fighters have started coming back and they need to be monitored so as to be reintegrated into society and not perpetrate attacks in the future.
