Institute for Peace and Secular Studies
Created in 1995, the Institute for Peace and Secular Studies (IPSS) tries to reach every sector of society in Pakistan´s border with India to promote peace and raise awareness among youth on extremism and the importance of equal rights.
The Institute considers poverty, inequalit, illiteracy, intolerance and greed the main reasons behind war, terrorism, and extremism. Therefore, it has been using cinema – through the project CINEMA PEACE MOBILE – to promote peace in Punjab (a city located in the border of Pakistan). CINEMA PEACE MOBILE has already visited 547 schools in 34 districts of Punjab.
Besides this programme, the Institute for Peace and Secular Studies has also been developing activites to promote peace between Pakistan and India, de-radicalize youth, counter Religious extremism and violence in the region.
